Accommodation near Kruger National Park

South Africa sports a mild climate during the entire year, with the advantage of being nicely placed at the perfect latitude in the Southern Hemisphere - making it a fantastic holiday away from the miserable American and European winters.

In this brief article, I’m going to highlight the less well known areas of South Africa, places where you can avoid the hords of tourists and at the same time enjoy the lower prices that you can find in the lesser known places.

Kruger Park
Many individuals recognise Kruger Park from perhaps the most famous wildlife footage caught on camera. Kruger is the largest game park in South Africa and extends 60 km from west to east and 350 km from north to south. Kruger has 8 main gates that allow entryway to the many campsites . There is plenty of guesthouses near Krugar Park so it doesn’t need to be an arduous return trip from Cape Town or wherever you’re staying.

Visit the Drakensberg Mountain Range
The Drakensberg is the highest mountain range in Southern Africa, extending to 3,482 metres (11,420 ft) in elevation. Caves are predominant in the easily weathered sandstone, and numerous have murals sketched by the indigenous bushmen. The Drakensberg Mountain Range has between 35000 and 40000 works of cave paintings and is the greatest aggregation of such artwork on the planet. There is evidence that the bushmen lived in the Drakensberg Mountains at least 40,000 years ago, and possibly over 100,000 years ago. The Drakensberg Mountain Range is simple to get to from closeby Durban and you can get accommodation in Durban without any trouble.

Visit KwaZulu Natal
KwaZulu Natahas has become progressively popular with tourists - primarily sold as the Zulu Kingdom. It is unfortunate that many from abroad miss this experience, as many who DO come here know that it offers visitors a number of experiences. For a long time it has been known as the Garden Province for good reason. And again, there should be no worry locating hotels near KwaZulu.
