Weight-Loss Secrets: The 3 Meal Lie / The Fat Maker & Heart Killer

Filed under: Life Of Medicine — admin at 12:30 am on Monday, May 26, 2008

Welcome to Weight-Loss Secrets. This article series is going to consist of common sense conclusions that can be derived from current research and generally accepted facts.

I won’t waste your time like the scientists that took 2 years to determine that eating fast food makes you fat (duuuh). At times you may find a lot of these topics VERY theoretical but since I dont have millions to dump into proving the obvious we’ll just have to act ahead of science and wait for the studies to catch up to common sense 20 years from now.

Want a sample of these common sense health conclusions?

Sure you do……

COMMON-SENSE CONCLUSION: Eat 3 Meals get Fat FAST!

3 meals sounds logical. You’ve heard it all your life. Hell, you’ve eaten 3 square meals all your life. But Why!?

Bet you’ve never really given it any thought have you? Whats more natural than bacon, eggs and sausage with some flapjacks in the morning? A hamburger for lunch and a nice steak for dinner?

That doesnt sound sooooo… bad does it?

Except for the fact that it’s the exact opposite of YOUR nature!!

Think about it. Humans have been around for millions of years (or 6,000 depending on your religious beliefs) and for the majority of that existence it required you to catch your own dinner or you wouldn’t eat.

Think about that for 1 second and the natural eating plan starts to become clear. If you were a caveman you would get up in the morning and prepare to hunt for todays dinner. Meat was planned to be that evenings feast.

Meat wasnt there for breakfast or lunch and dinner was a real maybe. Until the lucky hunter caught meat he ate things that were a lot easier to catch - fruits and vegetables!

So a typical day would have the hunter rising and eating nuts, berries, veggies or fruit (slow-release carbs that provide continuous energy for the hunt).

During the day the hunter could turn to these same items to stave off hunger and keep him fueled for the fight without making him sleepy.

An end of day successful hunt would provide meat and a feast!

And so it basically went for millions of years….

Can you imagine teleporting a caveman raised like that to present day America and letting him eat at your table? What do you think would happen to him when fed your diet of non-stop meat and between meal snacks? Of course he’d get fat as a pig!

We’ll the jokes on you. You are that caveman. Your genes and his share over 99% of the same DNA. You body reacts just like his would in todays toxic environment.

If I was a caveman you’d better believe that I wouldn’t be getting up 3 times a day and chasing down some animal just because its time to eat. My family line probably discovered that plants were edible.

I know I would have. When cavewife tried to get me up for the breakfast hunt I’d have snatched the nearest plant ate it, took a couple chews, taste it. Ummmmm, tastes good. I’m not sick. Here baby, eat this and give some to the kids. Wake me up for the next hunt….

See? It doesnt make sense. It really seems natural that we would only have to hunt and eat meat once a day and really the body is probably adapted to comfortably going without meat for days at a time.

Evolution hasnt adapted us to live in todays food world and probably wont for another couple million years.

The answer is to eat more like our genetic ancestors if we want improved weight control energy and health.

Heart disease is the #1 killer - 98%+ of those deaths can be attributed to plaque buildups that cause blockages leading to heart attack and stroke. - You were born with clean arteries how did they get so blocked?

Maybe it has something to do with the food we eat. Which raises another point. In the early 1900’s a doctor could go his entire career and never see a heart attack.

Huh! Well, what’s so different today? Could processed and fast-food have anything to do with it? Hmmm…..

America on verge of obesity epidemic - Heart blockages #1 killer

Hmmmmmmm………

Think there’s a link?

Could it be that we’re eating too much meat with saturated fat that’s clogging our arteries and leading to heart disease and stroke?

Especially when you consider that primitive man (you) wasn’t built to processed massive amounts of meat and chemicals that dont exist in nature.

Seems logical, it just hasnt been studied and proven yet.

I have decided not to wait for the study (and the possibility of becoming a fatal statistic) and draw logical conclusions and take pro-health action.

I have seen the positive results of these steps in my own life and this blog is my way to share these findings with you.

Common sense science you can live with.

In my next article I’ll show you how I easily work this tidbit of info into my daily life. Follow natures plan and you can practically eat all day to keep your energy up and avoid hunger without having to do anything weird like count calories, carbs or fat grams.

In the future I’ll share other health vanity issues like how to eliminate/reduce puffy eyes, EZ exercise programs and more.

Stay-tuned…

Bee’s and Bee Nutrition

What is the buzz about bee Nutrition? Well, you cant get more down to nature then bee products. Powerful anti-oxidants, skin creams, supplements, and much more. Let’s look into the small world of nature’s busiest insects.

Royal Jelly

Taken as a supplement to promote good health and also for potent anti-aging and anti-oxidant qualities.

Royal Jelly is a creamy white liquid made by worker bees meant only for the queen bee. This substance changes a common bee into a Queen Bee, hence the name Royal Jelly. This miracle elixir also may extend her life from 2 months to possibly five years! Royal Jelly is packed full of essential minerals, proteins, B vitamins, amino & fatty acids, just to name a few!

Propolis

Propolis in its rawest form has up to 500 x more bioflavonoids than oranges. Propolis has
anti-ibiotic, antibiotic, antifungal, antibacterial, anti-septic, and antiviral properties. Superior propolis must have high concentrations of resin and little wax.

Natural bee honey

Bee honey is well known for its energy, vitality and anti aging properties. Bee Honey in particular is known widely for its healing properties and even help in some gastric problems.
Bee products have been widely know in the European community for some time now and just recently becoming popular
on this side of the ocean.

Possible Benefits of Bee Nutrition
-energy booster
-Reduces symptoms of Allergies
-Reduces stress
-Better circulation
-May Reduce swelling from arthritis (Have you ever seen that guy on tv that lets the bee sting his knuckles)
-Lean muscle mass
-Clear complexion
-May reduce signs of aging(wrinkles)
-May increase mental alertness

Hey a bee just stung me

If the sting swells over a large area in a short period of time, go to the emergency room immediately. You could be allergic to bee stings. If you know that you are not allergic to bee stings then just remove stinger from wound, rinse under cool water and apply
Aloe Vera lotion lotion if you have it. This will help with the burning and itching.

What Is Iridology

Filed under: Life Of Medicine — admin at 2:03 pm on Saturday, April 12, 2008

Iridology is the science and practice of analyzing the iris, the most complex external structure of the human anatomy. The practice of Iridology is expanding rapidly as it is becoming known as a valuable tool for preventive healthcare. The iris is connected to every organ and tissue of the body by way of the brain and nervous system. It is in direct contact with the bio-energetic, biochemical, structural, hormonal, and metabolic processes of the body via the nerves, blood vessels, muscle fibers, and lymph. Holistically, it is used to accurately assess the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual patterns and weaknesses for a complete health analysis. It is completely painless, non-invasive, and economically viable while providing valuable information for restorative and preventive health care.

Most Iridologists also incorporate the study of Sclerology into their assessments. Sclerology is the study of the whites of the eyes as they relate to the person’s health. Interpreting the red lines, colorations, and markings in the sclera is closely associated with present pathology of the body. This is based on the twelve meridians and the yin and yang aspect of each meridian. The Chinese saw the lines in the sclera as a reflection of the lymphatic fluid which bathes every cell in relation to the principles of acupuncture. This principle concludes that imbalances in the meridian energy register in the sclera. Native American Indians also analyzed the eyes to get a better understanding of the stresses affecting a person’s health.

Nature has provided us with an invaluable insight into the vital status of the health of any individual through the sciences of iridology and sclerology. Through analyzing the eyes it enables us to ascertain the person’s genetic predisposition to health and disease, the general constitution, as well as organ and gland influence on other bodily systems. Personality tendencies, thought and emotional patterns, and deeper soul-level issues can also be recognized, making the eyes truly the windows to not only the body, but the mind and soul.

Iridology has progressed tremendously since the mid 1800’s. Numerous doctors and scientists have researched iridology on humans over the past 125 years and it has become a respected practice, used by many medical doctors and naturopaths worldwide. Dr. Bernard Jensen, renowned Iridologist and Nutritionist, pioneered the science of iridology here in the U.S. Dr. David J Pesek, PhD has continued and expanded upon Jensen’s work to develop one of the most comprehensive iris charts used today, integrating the thought and emotional patterns with the physical health, and improving the understanding of the ‘brain flare’ areas.

With today’s technology and the use of microscopes and fine digital imaging, many medical doctors, naturopaths, and psychologists from England, Germany, Italy, France, United States, Australia, Canada, and Russia have been advancing the field of iris analysis over the past 20 years with a seemingly unlimited potential. The brain areas, which are analyzed in the upper quadrant of the iris , have further defined emotional and spiritual health. Time-Risk assessment, has been documented, proven and shared with advanced iridologists around the world.
Time-Risk is a fascinating degree of exactitude, using the posterior epithelial cells which wrap around the pupil, to determine the actual time when imbalances in the body, mind, spirit may have occurred from childhood until old age.

Research projects are currently being done by many Iridologists/Researchers around the world. One study in progress is being done by the American College of Iridology which targets the markers in the corresponding intestinal area of the iris to pinpoint bowel disease in its early stages. This will rapidly bolster iridology in the United States as an integral part of the preventive health care system by understanding genetic influences and learning how to properly care for the body to avoid potential disease.

John Andrews, a top Iridologist and researcher from the United Kingdom publishes the Advanced Iridology Research Journal quarterly, including many works from Dr. Danielle LoRito, MD from Italy, Dr. Mikhail Dailakis, MD from Greece, Dr. Vincent Di Spazio from Italy, Dr. David Borow, an oncologist and medical Iridologist from Austria, Prof. Javier Griso Salome from Spain, Prof. Serge Jurasunas from Portugal, and many others. This Journal includes topics such as ‘Profiling Aging through Iridology’, ‘Multiple Sclerosis and Iridology’, ‘Hypoglycemia’, ‘Dysbiosis - Intestinal Immunology’, ‘Biophysics and Quantitive and Qualitative Biochemistry’, and ‘Iridology - Potential in Medicine’. Clearly we can see that Iridology is taken quite seriously by influential doctors who are open to progress of an alternative nature.

The iris will alert us to the early signs of approaching ‘dis-ease’; although any well educated Iridologist will be sure to warn that the iris cannot diagnose disease, but can recognize potentials for disease as well as toxic accumulations and tissue weakness within the body. As the evaluations are made, and the stress conditions understood, proper corrective measures can be applied. The body can then more easily adjust and alleviate the abnormal stress resulting in a greater degree of health, as well as enabling one to potentially avert any threatening disease.

Each eye gives us different information. The left eye correlates with the left side of the body and the right side of the brain, which is the feminine, creative, conceptual, intuitive side, relating to our emotional selves. The right eye correlates to the right side of the body and the left side of the brain, which is the analytical, practical, linear, masculine side and relates to our work and logical self.

Thus the eye is the very aware ‘informant’ regarding the CAUSE of body stressors. Iridologists trained in interpreting the indications portrayed in the eye have the advantage of occupying ‘command central’ rather than a peripheral monitor such as blood, hair, tongue, or urine analysis, which do not have full access to all of the body’s information (although each of these diagnostic systems provide specific valuable information). Practically speaking, the right hand may not know what the left hand is doing, but the brain centers know what both hands are doing simultaneously and the eye is privy to that information.

Knowing the various stressors on the body can be essential in preventive health care. These stressors may be simple, moderate, or severe and can represent conditions such as nutritional deficiencies, poor circulation, congestion, fatigue, pH acid/alkaline imbalance, infections (bacterial, viral, parasitic), nerve stress, toxic accumulations and abnormal cellular activity. Patterns may register an abnormal stress development long before any serious effects are experienced. With the stress conditions understood, proper corrective measures can be applied by nurturing the causative factors with natural therapies (nutrition, herbology, enzyme therapy, homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic, massage, counseling, etc.) leading to a greater degree of health.

Your Iridologist is an important part of a health care team. I encourage my clients to discuss the health care analysis and program I provide with their doctors or other health care providers. Some doctors understand the value in such an analysis and will refer clients to an Iridologist for a whole body assessment, often reducing the discomfort, costs, and time involved for the patient.

The eyes can also show us the cleansing and healing signs as the body adjusts to a more optimum state of health. All we need are the keys to understanding the symbols….and here it is, looking right into our eyes!

The Hidden Issues Of Ovarian Cancer

Filed under: Life Of Medicine — admin at 3:39 am on Friday, March 28, 2008

Dr Christiane Northrup has some interesting insights into the emotional and energetic issues associated with ovarian cancer. Whilst it is impossible to generalize emotional and energetic responses, she highlights the issue of rage in ovarian cancers. She describes the ovaries as being ‘female balls’ which means they relate to an active participation in the world in a way that expresses our unique creative potential, as women, on an individual basis.

She says: “…we as women must be open to the uniqueness of our creations and their own energies and impulses, without trying to force them into predetermined forms. Our ability to yield to our creativity, to acknowledge that we cannot control it with our intellects, is the key to understanding ovarian power.” (p187, Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom)

She relates the issue of rage as deriving from being in an abusive relationship - not necessarily physically abusive, though of course this could be the case. And it may not necessarily be a personal or intimate relationship. It could be with work, societal, or even spiritual. But it embodies a way of relating and dealing with something or someone, where the woman involved feels controlled by the situation and does not believe in her ability to change it, or herself. It is a denial of her innate power and self-sovereignty. A denial of a woman’s innate dignity, creativity, spirituality, and complexity.

Interestingly, Dr Northrup notes that ovarian cancer is linked to a diet high in fat and dairy food. Dairy products in Oriental medicine, are associated with the liver meridian. Meridians are energy conduits, and though they have a specific anatomy, they are not equated necessarily with the organs of the same name, as understood in conventional western medicine. The emotion associated with a liver meridian that is out of balance, is rage and anger.

Oriental medicine believes that diseases start in our energetic body first, and then progress to the physical body. And certainly not all women who have a high fat and high dairy diet develop ovarian cancer. Dr Northrup suggests that women take care of their ovaries and uterus by reclaiming and expressing whatever this deep creative energy is for them. She suggests taking the time to do this daily.

A recent scientific study has also found that drinking two cups or more of tea a day can reduce the risk of ovarian cancer by 46%. This study was done in Sweden over a 15 year period. Sweden is a country where there is a higher risk of ovarian cancer, as are other countries with a high dairy consumption (Denmark and Switzerland).

What Is Reiki?

Filed under: Life Of Medicine — admin at 1:31 am on Thursday, March 27, 2008

Reiki is an ancient form of energy healing in which a properly attuned Reiki Practitioner serves as a conduit for Universal Life Force (or ReiKi). The Reiki practitioner opens them self up as a conduit for a semi-sentient energy summoned from a higher source to facilitate healing or correct a person’s aura. The Reiki Practitioner is not a healer per se - but the energy moves through them to work with the recipient’s higher will in correcting imbalances and treating situations from the core causal point rather than the effect. This is thought to have a beneficial effect on the body, mind, and spirit, emotional and in Indian systems - the chakra system.

Everything in the universe is thought to have an underlying energy that gives it form, structure, health, strength and autonomy. This invisible, but formidable force is called the Chi by Chinese mystics and martial artists and referred to as Prana by Indian masters and healers. It is also called “orgone energy” and the practice itself is also described by the names Chi Gong and Polarity therapy. Whatever you want to call it, the word Reiki literally means “Universal Life Force.” Reiki is capable of healing anything because it works at very fundamental levels of reality. The level of reality where Reiki operates is the underlying energy structure of matter, as the physical matter we see around us is a solidified form of energy.

The health, flow and strength of this force are thought to be affected by our thoughts. Think negative thoughts and manifest diseases and unfortunate events. Think positive thoughts and good health and good fortune. Think nothing and achieve bliss. Reiki is really about helping those who are stuck in self, access the healing energies of a higher power. In some ways too, Reiki can be called an active, ritualistic form of prayer.

A Reiki healing is a very simple, and quite religious act of faith. In essence, the Reiki Healer or Master can be seen as a channel or vessel for the transformative power of God’s love. The practitioner places his or her hands upon the person to be healed with the intent for healing to occur, and then the energy begins flowing. Into the afflicted part of the body, without any judgement or thoughts from the Reiki Master. The healer draws exactly the amount of needed energy to the recipient. There is no conscious intervention or appeal on the part of the healer who are there to keep the “healing space” open between the diseased or troubled person and the divine love before. The healer/s job is to get out of the way and be a conduit. Often, if you will observe a Reiki healer, he or she will appear to stop and watch or listen for signs of what to do next, from a silent voice.

Traditionally, the healer is taught a set of hand positions that are postured over the sick or troubled person’s body. These sometimes look like the Reiki master is giving the person a massage from mid hair. The Reiki Practitioner will occasionally make scooping or actions like he is smoothing a bedspread. This is all part of his intent to intuitively correct energy imbalances in your aura. Some healers will also place their hands directly on a sick or ill part of a body and keep them there as long as necessary.

Reiki can also be used to still emotional storms as well as heal relationships. This is done by correcting the subtle energies of what is known as the “orgone body”, “electromagnetic field” or the aura. Often, hands are passed through the air, once again, removing blocks and negative entities or thought forms from the person’s force field.

Reiki is also used to heal individuals at a distance. This is also called “remote healing”. Although it is not always necessary, the Reiki healer will ask for an object or create an object that represents the ill person. Treating the object is thought to also treat the person at a long distance away.

Some very talented Reiki masters have also been known to heal objects such as cars, computers and traffic jams. The idea is to act as a vessel and send the situation light so that it will correct itself.

In a way, Reiki is also about breaking bad patterns. The great sages always despise anything too habitual as it is thought to cause stagnation and disease. Good interference from a well trained Reiki master or light worker is thought to break these patterns and allow fresh energy to trigger the process of healing.

The Simplest Asthma Solution

Filed under: Life Of Medicine — admin at 3:24 am on Friday, March 21, 2008

During the Democratic convention the Reverend Al Sharpton quoted a shocking statistic: One third of the children in Harlem suffer from asthma. This shouldn’t be completely surprising since asthma cases have been consistently increasing over the years, especially in the cities, escalating recently during the rollback of some key environmental laws, but it is a trend we must turn back.

While parents have only limited control over the environment
where they raise their children, there is a personal environmental decision they can make that may dramatically reduce the symptoms their children experience. It all comes down to detergent, and not just any detergent. It is the detergent that they use to wash their children’s clothes and sheets. The biggest selling detergents in the United States contain large amounts of irritating phosphates, which are not only a major irritant to the skin and respiratory system, but a source of serious pollution, and a component in global warming.

If you are wondering if your laundry detergent contains phosphates just read the label, it is listed there. In most industrialized countries phosphate detergents are outlawed for good reason, but in the United States the chemical industry has a strong lobby and cheap phosphates help manufacturers keep their costs low, so their use continues.
The next time you walk though the laundry detergent section of your supermarket, take a deep breath and notice how much the smell irritates your nose and lungs.

What kinds of detergent contain low, or no phosphates? Baby detergent! No mother would dream of washing their newborn’s clothes and sheets in the family’s powdered detergent! That would give their baby’s delicate skin rashes, not to mention an increase in crying and crankiness. There are many readily available natural detergents that are phosphate-free and it’s worth the time to find them.

We have noticed tremendous improvements for both children and adults when their clothes and sheets are consistently washed in a phosphate-free detergent. By itself this change may not alleviate all of the symptoms of asthma and those related skin rashes, but it clearly removes an insidious irritant from
the equation.

It might be helpful to explain why this simple change is so effective. Testing in Europe shows that, while sleeping, people are between two thousand and ten thousand times more sensitive to chemical and electromagnetic pollution than while they are awake. When a child’s pajamas are washed with a chemical irritant and they sleep on bedclothes containing those same toxins, their immune system is challenged nightly, during a time when they are most vulnerable. Their body’s nutritional reserves are consumed in that battle and they are less able to defend themselves from the pollutants they encounter during their day. Asthma and allergies are not produced by a single irritant, but by an accumulation of minor irritants that eventually overwhelm the body’s ability to adapt. It is not a huge leap to imagine that removing a respiratory irritant from the sleeping environment, where a person spends one third of their time, is going to produce an improvement in a child’s ability to breathe.
