Beginner’s Guide to Network Marketing / MLM

Filed under: World Of Marketing — admin at 12:54 am on Wednesday, June 11, 2008

Network Marketing, also called MLM (multi-level marketing) can be very profitable. Many companies operate in this way, for example Amway, Kleeneze and the Body Shop.

The main requirement for this business is to be good at selling. Don’t despair if you’re a shy wallflower as selling is a skill that can be learned, and in most network marketing companies you should be provided with plenty of training materials and help.

When you join a network marketing company there are two ways of earning money. Firstly, by selling the company’s products to the customer, you would then receive a percentage of the products you sell. Secondly you can also recruit other sales agents, while continuing to sell the products yourself. You would then receive commission for every sale your agents make also.

Although this is a profitable way to earn money, don’t be fooled by claims that it is easy to earn money with little effort.

It can be possible to get into a position whereby you build a large network of sellers, who provide you with an income with their efforts, but you have to put in the work and it doesn’t happen overnight.

If you are good at selling and are prepared to put in the work then this could be a very good way of making money.

There are a wide range of products available to make money. Choose a company whose products you like and perhaps would buy yourself, as this will make it much easier to sell.

Also make sure there are not too many agents for the company in the area you would like to work. This would make it difficult to sell a reasonable amount.

Try to find a proactive, experienced and helpful agent when deciding on which company to join. They will be the ones providing you with the most training and advice. Some agents
provide regular training sessions and online forums to help and encourage each other.

Request information from several people or companies before making a decision.

You don’t need any qualifications to join. You will be trained by the company you join to sell the product you choose.

Once you have chosen the company you wish to sell for, you will need to purchase their basic kit - this can be as little as a short training guide and some catalogues, to a package of products, stationery, catalogues and training materials. You should not be required to buy the products yourself to sell on. It is common however, to be expected to pay for some samples of the products at up to $200.

It is then up to you to make contacts to sell the products. You can sell through friends and their friends, work colleagues, special events, schools (check first), holding a party, or anywhere you can leave a catalogue in their business or office.

To work in network marketing you will need energy and resilience and a tough skin to cope with the many rejections!

At the start you may only be making a small amount, but successful people with a big network can make $200,000.

However this is not common and the average earnings are around $8,000 a year.

Pros

If you are comfortable with selling and have or can make contacts you could persuade to sell to, you can make good money.

Good way of meeting people.

Flexible working hours.

Help, training and encouragement from your upline (the person that you joined the networking company through)

Ready-made business

Cons

Lot of time and effort required.

Initial earnings can be quite low.

Could lose friends if you try too hard to sell products to them or try to make them become agents too.

Start up costs (although usually relatively low - less that $200.

Must be good at selling, or be willing to learn how to sell.

Blocked, Stumped And Stuck: 12 Prompts To Get You Writing!

Filed under: World Of Marketing — admin at 7:34 am on Sunday, May 25, 2008

Beginning writers often wonder how to start writing. It’s theworry they get themselves into right away that mostly hindersthem from getting anything written down.

Experienced writers often get stuck in the middle of their novels, stories or articles. They sometimes agonize and worry about whatto write next and that’s how they are delayed.

Beginning and experienced writers and the writers in between cansometimes fall into the trap of getting themselves “blocked.”

So here are 12 writing prompts you, the beginning writer or theexperienced one, can use to start off your writing.

PROMPT # 1 “I write because…” Think of as many reasons as you can. Any reasons you know and feel you should and could write, and why you write. Then from your list, see if you can turn your reasons into an essay, a story or a poem.

PROMPT # 2 Sit still for five minutes. Close your eyes and listen. Don’t think, just listen. What sounds do you hear? Is there music? Rustling leaves? Is your TV on? After five minutes, write down all the sounds on a piece of paper. If you can’t think of the correct words for the sounds, write how they sounded (example: “bbbzzztttt” for something you heard). Now use the sounds on your list to create “sound poetry.”

PROMPT # 3: Use this prompt to start off your story: “When the dust settled, he saw…”

PROMPT # 4: Quotes are powerful writing starters. They evoke emotions, insights and inspirations for any writer. What’s your favorite quote? It may be something a famous dead person said, or a line in a song, or a passage in the Bible. Write the quote on top of your page and write your interpretation of your favorite quote. You can inspire, motivate or even impart a lesson.

PROMPT # 5: When was the last time you received a letter? Or a postcard? Who sent it? What did it say? Did you reply to the letter? Write yourself a letter. Pretend that you are somebody else. Put yourself in your neighbor’s shoes, or your old friend’s shoes. If you were them, what would you want to tell yourself, or want to know about yourself?

PROMPT # 6: When you ride a bus or a car in one of your trips, what do you do? Do you sleep during the trip? Do you stare out the window and watch unseeingly the view? Or do you take it all in — the greenery, the buildings, the people, the colors, the hues, the clouds? Recall the most recent trip you’ve had. Where did you come from and where were you going? Why were you going there? How long was the trip? What did you see on the way? This short exercise will help you with your power of recalling details. The more you recall, the more detailed your writing will be. Do this exercise on a regular basis and you will be able to write with good use of details.

PROMPT # 7: Watch your favorite movie. Afterwards, experiment on giving it different endings. If it’s a romantic movie with a mushy happy-ending, why not re-write the ending and say, have the guy end up with the other woman? Or if it’s an action film, ask yourself what would happen if the hero got killed. The thing here is you have to think of a different version for the movie’s ending.

Prompt # 8. Imagine you’re walking in a mall and all of a sudden, a woman grabs you by the hair and starts a catfight with you. What would you do? Would you fight back? If you’re a man, think of what you’ll do if another guy punched you on the nose for no reason at all. Would you punch back? Describe the “fight scene.”

Prompt # 9. Recall the last dream (or nightmare) you had. Describe the dream in detail.

Prompt # 10. If you were an animal, what would would you be? Why?

Prompt # 11. When you were in gradeschool, what was your most hated subject? Why did you hate it? Do you still hate it? Why or why not? Did the teacher have anything to do with it?

Prompt # 12. Put on your favorite CD or tape. What music comes out of it? When you listen to it, what do you feel? What comes into your mind?

I hope the prompts I have created for you will help you get thosewords out of your head and onto the paper.

Drop me a line and share with me your writing if you are inclined.Until then, great writing to you!

Popup Ads - Redesign Them and Explode Your Sales!

Filed under: World Of Marketing — admin at 9:24 am on Friday, May 23, 2008

Most people put popup ads and Spam in the same category; they
genuinely don’t believe in their effectiveness.

However, marketing statistics show that popup ads are powerful
marketing tools that can significantly increase your sales and
subscribers to your opt-in list or newsletter. On the flip side,
popup ads are the third most hated entity on the Internet, behind
Spam and adware. This is because most popup ads are the rude
interrupting variety that traps the user into an unending loop.

It is possible to produce Popups that provide relevant information
to users in a non-intrusive way. You just need to be sure that you
are providing relevant information to the visitors to your site
(information that they are already actively looking for.

If you are using conventional popup ads on your site, you may
have noticed oh, in the last year or so…that your opt in list has
been continually declining. You can attribute this decline to the
advent of the popup blocker. Just in case you’re not familiar with
pop-up blockers, here’s the short summaryover the past year, a
lot companies, even the major ISP’s (Internet Service Providers)
such as AOL, Google and Yahoo have been releasing software
designed to block pop-ups, so that anyone who has the software
installed can control how many pop-ups they see from what
website or even block them totally. In lots of cases, the average
Internet user doesn’t even know that they have a popup blocker
installed on their toolbar.

There is new technology available now that lets you create a new
type of popup ad. This ad is an animated floating ads that look
and behave like pop-ups but are essentially a part of the main web
page, so popup blockers can’t stop them.
Unlike conventional popups, which open new browser windows,
these ads are part of your web page.

Using this new technology, you can:

1. Conduct polls and surveys to can get useful feedback from your
visitors/aid your marketing efforts

2. Capture email addresses from visitors by offering them free
information

3. Use your thank you pages to introduce your visitors to your
other products. Since they are already in a buying mood, there is
a pretty good chance that they will be receptive.

4. Add “tips of the day” and change them every so often to
generate interest.

As a smart internet marketer, I’m sure you know that by capturing
the visitor’s email address, and then following up with them via an
effective auto-responder campaign, you can more than double your
chances of closing the sale. By using the new popup ads, you can
do exactly that!

Well-written articles can help you…

Filed under: World Of Marketing — admin at 6:26 pm on Wednesday, April 23, 2008

You’ve heard it time and time again: if you want to get your name out there, write articles and allow them to be freely reproduced (with a resource box pointing back to you, of course). Largely, that is true. Well-written articles can:

- help you build your profile as an expert

- draw traffic to your website, and

- help you to build a database of potential clients through associated e-courses or a newsletter.

So far you probably haven’t heard anything you didn’t already know. What YOU are likely to be struggling with is the process of actually writing the article. Sure, you can come up with the content - but how do you really grab those readers? How do you keep their attention all the way through? And most importantly, how do you make them want to come back for more?

Let’s assume that you understand the basics of constructing and editing an article (it has a beginning, middle, and an end and you know how to check the grammar and spelling.) Most of us can manage that. But if you’re not content with simply “getting something out there” - if you want to WIN readers - then you need to start thinking about what they want to know, rather than what you want to tell them.

Put your readers first - every time. Give them what they want, and they’ll be queuing up to read anything you produce. Give them something bland (or worse, blatantly self-serving) and they’ll blast by you so fast you’ll be spinning in the back draft.

The following four steps will give you a blueprint for writing articles that captivate your readers - whatever the topic.

== 1. Find Out What Your Readers Really Want ==

Sometimes you’ll know what they want because you’re an expert in the field, and understand the problems. If you don’t know the subject area well, you’ll have to do more research. Look for forums on your topic and see what people are discussing. What are the problems that need solving? Can you provide an answer? (”If they have a headache, give them an aspirin.”)

== 2. Start With An Attention-Grabber ==

Spend time working on your opening. Try to avoid trite questions like “Have you ever wondered why so many people find it difficult to lose weight?” Firstly, it’s dull. Secondly, it’s not targeting the person reading the article - what do they care about the difficulties “many people” have with losing weight? They only care about THEIR weight problem!

Try to come up with an opening paragraph that gives the reader that warm “Hey, this is about me!” feeling right away. Better still; try to generate a rush of excitement - “This could be the answer I’ve been looking for…”

Example: “The diet gurus make it all sound so easy: to lose weight, all you have to do is expend more energy than you take in. Huh! If it were that simple, the “Big People” stores would be out of business in a heartbeat. Luckily for those of us who are tired of diets, gyms and dull group meetings, there is a back-to-basics way to tackle this. A way that won’t cost you a fortune or leave you feeling deprived.”

== 3. Write As You Speak… Then Edit! ==

The sample opening above also illustrates the importance of the tone you use in your article. You need ‘meat’ in each article, of course, to make it worth reading - but make sure it’s not indigestible!

You’re better off writing your article in a natural, relaxed style that’s akin to normal conversation. It doesn’t matter if the first draft is a little too informal - you can fix that when you edit. Naturally you don’t want to irritate your readers with a too-breezy style, but too-formal is worse. Readers may want facts, tips, and strategies, but they hope to be entertained, too! Let your personality shine through.

== 4. End On A High ==

What’s one of the biggest problems with most articles? They fizzle out! Writers often don’t know how to end on an upbeat note. They either just stop dead or they come up with a trite ending like: “So what are you waiting for? Get started today!”

The beginning and the end of your article are the two parts that make the biggest impression. Start by creating a feeling of anticipation… and leave them feeling satisfied (or excited) when you finish.

If you are offering advice to help them solve a problem (like obesity) gives your readers a reason to feel optimistic and good about them. Don’t make rash promises… but do offer hope. If you are giving hints on marketing or business, sum up the benefits of acting on your tips. You can also experiment with using a pithy/humorous quote, or giving readers a specific action to get them started. Be creative - and don’t rush it.

Here’s a final tip: create an article-writing cheat-sheet for yourself. Divide it into beginnings/middles/ends and add more useful strategies as you think of them. (For example, using the tips in this article, you might write: ENDINGS - end on a high, offer hope, use funny quote, suggest action to get started.)

Do this, and you’ll be steadily cranking out articles that everyone wants to publish!

Separating the Men from the Boys

Filed under: World Of Marketing — admin at 4:18 am on Monday, April 14, 2008

Business IS a matter of separating the “men from the boys.”

The expression, “Separating the women from the girls”
doesn’t exist, but even with the lack of an
appropriate colloquialism, we all know that business
transcends gender. Professionalism above all else is
the key to winning the game!

And, it’s so easy to tell the difference.

Here are a few simple examples:

ON EMAILING:

The “boys” use those cheap bulk mailing programs and
sp^am the living daylights out of the rest of us. We
all try to tell them how useless this is, that they
are just taking up precious cyberspace, but do they
listen? No they do not. Instead, they cling to their
childish methods and wonder why no one takes them
seriously and why they never make a dime. They whine
and complain, but they never listen and learn.

Professional business people understand the need to
cultivate friends and associates. They know the value
of pursuing quality leads to further their business
goals. They know that follow-up will make or break
their success. They understand the responsibility that
comes from being given that most private of access - a
person’s name and email address, maybe even a phone
number. Men and women, who care about online longevity
and their personal reputation, run their businesses
professionally and honestly. They are quick to reply
to true requests for help and information. They care
about the success of those they contact, going that
extra mile to provide help, resources, and personal
insight.

ON RECORDKEEPING:

The “boys” keep sloppy records. They can’t remember
who you are, or, if they do, they don’t care to expend
that extra bit of effort to acknowledge you
personally. The “Dear Webmaster” appears at the top of
their sp*amming emails. Their subject line reeks of
inappropriate headers and misleading and false claims
from “I visited your website” to “I wrote to you the
other day” or “I need help.” Recognizing these little
gems is easy, and those on the receiving end quickly
learn where the delete key lives.

The professional does his or her homework. They truly
visit a website or read a requested bit of
information. They respond as quickly as humanly
possible, in person. They understand and use
autoresponders appropriately.

The professional is open and friendly. Arrogance is
unheard of, confidence in themselves and their
products is apparent in even the simplest of replies.
They work at building trust, at building not just a
one-time contact, but a lifetime friend.

ON PRESENTATION:

The “boys” paste any old website together and call it
done. Proofreading? What’s that? Workable links?
Contact information? Not necessary! They’ve got their
“website” done and up… isn’t that all that matters?

Professionals learn that their websites and/or
mailings are NEVER done. They work hard to make it
easy for their visitors to get around and/or request
information. They understand the value of having
everything there - right on down to a phone number.

Professionals understand that requesting information
and buying online takes consumer confidence. Check
Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Wal-Mart, and more. Corporate
information, sales contacts, technical help - if
applicable - all listed there for easy access. They
know that having only an email contact is not enough.
Name, address (P.O. boxes are best!), phone number -
without those they know their website is incomplete.

ON INFORMATION:

The “boys” don’t keep up with the times. Old stats? No
one will know the difference. Out of date or
nonexistent program, who cares? Since they don’t “get
it” anyway, what’s the point of keeping site
information up to date. Heck, most of us aren’t going
to last two seconds there, so maybe they ARE saving
time!

The professional knows HOW MANY… products,
subscribers, affiliates. They understand that it is
important that those visiting know the current truth.
They understand their own website!

This does take a lot of work. As an example, my ezine
ad co-op is updated completely once a month, every
month. Letting advertisers know as closely as possible
the current subscriber counts in any given ezine is
vital - for me, the advertiser, and the publisher.
Getting the updates is critical. One cannot say one
thing yet mean another. The true professional knows
the difference.

The professional knows his or her product! They’ve
taken the time and effort to make themselves as close
to an expert as possible - an expert on their website
information.

CONCLUSION:

It is not necessary to spend hundreds of dollars to
develop a good website. Many successful online
entrepreneurs started out with minimal cash, just like
the rest of us, but they understood and implemented
the basics.

Quality not quantity. Content is, and always will be,
king. Accessibility - both on your website and to you
directly. Simple yet powerful differences.

Yes, we all may know the difference, but it’s the
DOING that separates the “men from the boys.” Be sure
you are a doer. Shine and the world WILL recognize the
difference!

How to Get on the Good Side of Internet Surfers

Filed under: World Of Marketing — admin at 3:46 pm on Saturday, April 12, 2008

Most people surfing the internet are looking for information. They aren’t necessarily out to buy anything. By giving them useful information, you not only entice the search engines to rank you higher due to your abundance of keywords, but other webmasters may find value in your site and they may link to it, increasing your popularity. You will most certainly receive more traffic as a result of offering information.

In addition, customers will appreciate your helpful information. It is a well established fact that customers tend to buy from someone they trust. Obviously, helping them by offering free, valuable information on your site is a fantastic way to gain their trust. They will begin to think of you as an educator. One of the highest paid marketing consultants of this day and age and a marketing legend, Jay Abraham teaches this strategy.

You need to educate your prospects on every aspect you can. Your product, you or your firm, the field and even related fields are all fair game. You might want to assume the prospect really doesn’t know anything about your field, and then bring them up to par.

The best strategy is to offer a bit of valuable content directly on your website. It will be advantageous for you to find out what your customers really want to know and write about that. Give them a primer on the topic your product or service relates to. Free reports work excellent for this purpose and if you offer it on your website, you can easily set-up an automatic download system.

As we’ve already discussed at length, this will help with search engine rankings, gaining links, and with grabbing your prospect’s interest.

If you’re having trouble coming up with quality information to offer, start by including as much information related to your specific product or service as possible. Explain every last detail of whatever you are selling. Don’t leave any room for customers to ask questions. Remember, the best way to accomplish this is to try to put yourself in your customer’s shoes. What would he or she need or want to know? If you can manage to do that, you will always outsell your competition.

If your price is low, explain why it’s so low. Explain why you offer the best value. Explain what your product or service will do for them. What will they learn? Will it save them time and money? Explain how. Your prospects won’t really appreciate what you have to offer them until you explain it to them.

From there, you can dig deeper and include background information about your central topic. You can also include tips, insider information and further instructions. Remember, if your prospect doesn’t know about it, it will be much appreciated. Don’t take your knowledge for granted…

For instance, if you have a resume-related product for a specific type of career field, offer free info about job interviews in that particular field. Provide details on careers in that field (explain what would they do everyday at work) and maybe even the best schools to go to for the field. You could also provide some helpful job hunting resources.

You could easily generate dozens of pages full of high-quality content that the search engines, other webmasters and perhaps most importantly, your prospects themselves will truly appreciate.

But, it isn’t wise to give everything away for nothing. You can put some of your more prized info in an e-book as a special report (even 10 pages is enough), a weekly newsletter, or in an email series. So in addition to all the stuff on the site, you can offer a free sign-up for people who want to receive your more “prized and valuable info”.

If you offer some sort of software, allow customers to try it free for a short while. If you have an online course, give them a preview for free. The key is to trade this valuable information for your prospect’s name and email address so that you may follow up with them later.

You could also offer a weekly, bimonthly or just a monthly ezine. These are email newsletters that you write-up with fresh content on a regular basis. Many people would gladly trade their name and email address for relevant, up-to-date information on a topic that interests them.

Shoot Yourself to the Zenith of Adsense Income with These 3 Sure Fire “Gold Bullets”

Filed under: World Of Marketing — admin at 4:37 pm on Tuesday, April 1, 2008

How can you make money with Adsense? Well the basic principle behind it is writing good enough content to attract good enough ads for people to click on. What is missing in this link? The answer: traffic.

Acquiring Traffic Method 1. Article Submission.
This One of the best ways you can get traffic. You write an article and submit it to article directories. Obviously you write articles based on what your site’s content is focused on. I would strongly recommend writing original articles (like I do) and not just copy and paste other people’s works and brand it your own. It is unethical and if Google picks it up, it can punish you. It does no good to your credibility too.

Do a search on Google for “article directories” and sign up for at least 6. Write at least 2 articles a day and submit them for a month. I am not lying, at the end of the month, if you do not see a significant amount of traffic gushing in; you can email me from my website and curse at me. If you bear to.

Acquiring Traffic Method 2. Forum Postings
This method coupled with the above method would give you a super healthy does of one way back links. Sign up, again, for 5 forums (related to your site) and try to post actively in all of them. It create tons of one way links and also, if you have built a good relationship with the community there, you can even blatantly promote your site!

Acquiring Traffic Method 3. Adwords
Yes you can combine Adwords and Adsense together and still make a profit. You simply use leverage. Heard of Adwords Arbitrage? You bid for keywords that are low yet you maintain high paying Adsense ads. Is it possible? Yes. Do your research and send only the cheapest possible traffic for search engine bidding. The key here is not to be laser targeted keywords, they can be off a little but they need to be cheap. Another way is to simply set separate content bids for content advertising. Set it very cheaply and it will drive traffic quickly also.
